Nana Nketsia is an indecent Vandal – David Annan

A member of the legal team of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), David Annan, has described as “condemnable”, Nana Kobina Nketsia’s harangue against Ghanaian politicians at a recent forum in the Western region.

The Essikado Omanhene described Politicians as a “band of rats and vampires feeding fat” on Ghana.

He also described as “stupid”, some people he saw driving a long fleet of state vehicles to a programme.

“I saw a fleet of V8s - paapaapaapaapaa!!! About four of them were empty; speeding on the roads. I looked at them and you can see my wealth being drained up by very stupid people whom I’m more intelligent than; you are more intelligent than them. We pay them, we elect them to serve us and they come and sit on us and you are busy dividing yourselves into what, NPP, NDC for what?”

“I’m a Vandal; I’m a Ghanaian and it matters much more than all these things that are going around…when someone is corrupt, you find one party defends him, another party says hey!

“…Herr! Even corruption you can’t get a mind that this is bad and we shouldn’t do it? So if you can’t govern a country in truth, what are we doing? And this has been going on for too long. I went to Ghana for free. What have I done to Ghana? Have I joined the band of rats, the vampires who are feeding fat on this country? When you see my eyes red, they are as red as the flag of the Vandals”, the seething chief thundered in his tirade.

Nana Nketsia, who called for a revolution in the thinking of Ghanaians when he addressed fellow vandals (students of the Commonwealth hall of the University of Ghana), said: “I’m sorry that I’m bringing some of my anger but you need to be angry with your country in order to put it right”.

His polemic comes on the heels of several corruption allegations unearthed in the past few months.

While Ghc45 million meant for afforestation and guinea fowl projects under the Savannah Accelerated Development Authority (SADA) programme remain unaccounted for, over Ghc203 million is also alleged to have gone into private pockets under the Ghana Youth Employment and Entrepreneurial Development Agency (GYEEDA).

Also, the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) is alleged to have paid an IT firm, Subah Info Solutions, Ghc144 million for telecommunication monitoring services, though the contract was allegedly not executed.

Commissioner-General of the GRA has denied the allegation and clarified that only Ghc75 million was paid to Subah for undertaking part of the contract.

In another rot involving the GRA, a presidential task force, recently discovered that some 280 state and private companies evaded taxes to the tune of over Ghc730 million with the connivance of Customs officials.

However David Annan told Radio XYZ’s flagship news programme Strict Proof on Friday that the Chief must mind his language.

Comparing Nketsia’s language to that of President Mahama, who is also a vandal, Annan pointed out that: “I don’t ever think that President Mahama has ever spoken in such a fashion, with such words, with such diction and with such a tone”.

“…I mean there are vandals and there are vandals. There are decent vandals and clearly vandals who should be condemned. I think this statement by Nana Nketsia is condemnable and I expect the politicians who were the object of his vitriol and his tirade to recognise that fact and not seek to white-wash it and turn it into a political game of who did what and who is to blame”, Annan said.
