Nana Konadu campaign team alleges that GAME is intimidating delegates

Accra, June 21, GNA - Mr Namburr Berrick, Coordinator for Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings' Campaign Team for the NDC Flagbearership, on Tuesday alleged that Get Atta Mills Endorsed (GAME), the Campaign Team for Presiden= t Mills' had resorted to frustrating them through acts of intimidation.

Mr Berrick said Nana Konadu's team had written several letters to Mr Johnson Asiedu-Nketiah, NDC General Secretary and Dr Kwabena Adjei, Chairma= n of the NDC, to complain about these issues but had fallen on deaf ears. Mr Berrick made the allegation at a press conference in Accra to brief the media on their campaign tour to some Regions in the country. He said: 93We have also written to the General Secretary asking that we should be included on the Electoral Committee of the Party responsible for ensuring a fair, unbiased and democratic election at the congress.

"Members of the Electoral College responsible for supervising the National Democratic Congress elections are largely members of GAME with the exception of Mr Kofi Adams, Deputy General Secretary of the party". Mr Berrick explained that in the round-up of their seven region tour, which ended in the Brong-Ahafo Region, events indicated that GAME was determined to do anything fair or foul to win the flagbearership. He noted that they had notified the Brong Ahafo Regional Executives of the NDC prior to the tour, but some government functionaries in the Region decided to take the delegates hostage in their residence to derail the programme of Nana Konadu.

"By holding these delegates hostage, it is clear that GAME is infringing Article 6(a) and 6(c) of Election of the NDC Presidential Candidate guidelines," he stated.

"Article 6(a) states that equal opportunity, fairness and transparen= cy shall be manifestly exhibited towards all contestants during the campaign and election process while 6(c) indicated that all contestants shall have equal and unfettered access to all regional and constituency structures and shall not be hindered by any party officer, member or organ during the period of campaign".
