Nana Addo's convoy involved in accident

Tamne (U/E), Nov. 21, GNA - Two vehicles accompanying Nana Akufo Addo's campaign team in the Upper East Region were on Thursday involved in an accident while leaving Pusiga for Garu.

One person whose name was given as Fati was seriously injured while others sustained minor injuries, and were rushed to the Bawku Presbyterian Hospital for medical attention.

As of the time the campaign team was returning to Bolgatanga, it was confirmed that the victims' conditions were stable and that they were all responding well to treatment.

An eyewitness, who spoke to the GNA, said the accident occurred at about 1520 hours and involved the vehicles of Madam Gloria Akufo, and Mr Obri Arhin, Operation Director of Nana Addo's campaign team, with registration numbers GE 2848 X and GT 9542 X.

He said the accident occurred as a result of poor visibility from heavy dust stirred by the convoy. The two vehicles on reaching the Tamne Bridge, a few kilometres to the Garu Township, veered off the road with one of them somersaulting.

The eye-witness said security personnel, who were on the entourage, quickly rescued the occupants of the vehicles. Mr Arhin escaped unhurt while Madam Akufo was not onboard the vehicle at the time of the accident.
