Nana Addo Sets Tone

… And Says Election 2012 Is About NDC Performance, Not Insults, Not Lies Against NPP!

Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has called on his party communicators not to allow the ruling National Democratic Congress to divert attention from their incompetence to the New Patriotic Party and its leadership.

He said no amount of insults or lies can hide away the economic hardships that the majority of Ghanaians are facing under President JEA Mills.

He cited the current cholera epidemic, water shortage, electricity problems, the decreasing value of wages and salaries, and growing unemployment as the things which Ghanaians expect their President and his appointees to focus on tackling.

At a special lunch organised by Nana Yaw Osafo Maafo for members of the party’s Communications Directorate, the NPP flagbearer commended Nana Akomea and his team for the excellent work that they have been doing in putting Government on its toes.

HE SAID THAT THE 2012 CAMPAIGN IS MORE ABOUT THE PERFORMANCE OF THE CURRENT GOVERNMENT, THE NDC, THAN THE NPP AND THAT THE NPP SHOULD RESIST ANY PLOY TO MAKE THE NEXT GENERAL ELECTIONS A REFERENDUM ON THE OPPOSITION PARTY, INSTEAD.

He, therefore, urged his party communicators not to allow themselves to be pushed onto the defensive.

Nana Addo, “DON’T LET THEM MAKE US THE MAIN FOCUS OF ATTENTION THIS TIME. THAT WOULD NOT PUT FOOD ON THE TABLE. THAT WOULD NEITHER PAY SALARIES NOR BILLS. IT WOULD NOT MAKE GHANA BETTER.”

He charged his communicators to be forever on the alert and not allow the NDC to get away with the negative leadership they are offering to Ghanaians.

“Don’t let them get away with this blatant and embarrassing act of negligence by the incumbent Government,” he said, adding, “We would be failing in our responsibility as the main opposition party if we don’t hold Government to account at all times and with all the facts at our disposal.”

Nana Addo stated, “LET THE PEOPLE KNOW THAT THE FOCUS THIS TIME IS NOT PRIMARILY ABOUT US, THE NPP. THE FOCUS IS MAINLY ABOUT THEM, THE NDC, AND HOW THEY ARE FAILING TO ADDRESS THE DAY-TO-DAY CONCERNS OF ORDINARY GHANAIANS.”

He stressed his point further, “IT IS PRESIDENT MILLS AND HIS TEAM WHO ARE IN OFFICE UNTIL JANUARY 7, 2013. LET THEM FEEL BOTH THE BURDEN AND PRIVILEGE OF THAT ULTIMATE RESPONSIBILITY.”

He added, “It is they who are responsible for paying teachers, nurses, civil servants and all public sector workers well. They must create the environment for Ghanaian businesses to stay opened and grow, for jobs to be created, for poverty to be tackled and for prosperity to flow freely and broadly across the land.”

2012 Presidential Candidate of the NPP said, “Let us measure them (the NDC) by their ability to tackle the fundamental problems facing the people they have elected to serve. Nobody forced them to take on the task.”

Nana Addo announced that his Policy Unit was busy at work formulating policies and programmes for the party’s campaign.

The New Crusading GUIDE can disclose that, until his recent appointment as the AfDB Country Director for Zimbabwe, Dr Mahumudu Bawumia was the head of Nana Addo’s Policy Unit.

The Policy Unit was the first campaign unit to be formed. Indeed, Nana Addo started putting the team together as far back as June 2009, more than one year before the presidential primary o0f August 7, 2010.
