The National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS), ably led by Leader Clifford Sarpong Boateng wishes to convey with gratitude the release of Ghc67,135,600 by the Ministry of Finance for the payment of monthly stipends of 95,908 Nation Builders Corps (NaBCo) personnel.
The National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) has noted with keen interest the speeding vision of the government in improving the lives of the Ghanaian youth through creative employment avenues like the Nation Builders Corps (NaBCo), Youth in Afforestation, etc.
Nonetheless, the union has also noted with disappointment the failure of government to pay allowances of some of these very youth employed by same especially Youth in Afforestation.
We however understand that, the payment of monthly allowances of Youth in Afforestation is ongoing in batches and thus want to encourage the payment agency to speed up the payment process.
We also encourage the government to consider the early payment of Teacher and Nurses trainee allowances so as to foster their sound academic wellness and willingness to serve the nation with passion.
The union, also having an aim "to seek the general welfare of Ghanaian youth without prejudice to any cause" wishes to bring to the attention of government, the delay in the lifting of the ban on illegal mining otherwise known as "galamsey".
Notwithstanding, it should be put on record that, the union scowls on any act of illegal mining or indiscriminate activities that would hinder the broader developmental agenda of the nation, Ghana.
