NSS to validate service personnel on government payroll

The Management of the National Service Scheme (NSS) says it is going to validate all national service personnel on government of Ghana payroll before they receive their allowance.

A statement released and signed by Acting Executive Director, Ussif Mustapha said the directive comes as a follow-up exercise to reforms in the e-zwich payment system.

The secretariat requested all service personnel across the country on government of Ghana payroll to obtain and complete the required documents.

“All national service personnel are therefore expected to obtain validation forms from the District Secretariats of the NSS, fill them with their respective heads of department, and personally submit them to the district secretariats by Monday, 15th May, 2017 to complete the validation process,” the statement said.

The NSS warned service personnel who failed to comply with the directive will be considered as ghosts and will not be paid their allowance.

The statement further observed, “It is important for national service personnel to note that anyone who is not validated by the stipulated date will be considered nonexistent and therefore, will not be paid his/her allowance.”

It must be noted that the government here has taken upon itself to get rid of ‘ghost’ workers on its payroll to reduce the wage bill.

Close to 27,000 public sector workers across the country were not paid for the month of April, 2017 for failing to have undertaken biometric registration with the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT).
