NPP youth in Tamale call for leadership change

Two youth leaders of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have called for leadership change in the Northern Region to give the main opposition party, vision, direction and focus, during the upcoming delegates’ congress.

Addressing a media conference in Tamale, Adam Suleman and Lukman Fumai said this is the only means to bring unity, trust and popularity to the NPP.

“To attain this, the leadership of the party must be corrected as soon as possible,” Mr Suleman said.

He said the youth wing of the party expects the new leadership of the party to build a regional secretariat in Tamale among other positive interventions. Mr Suleman expressed displeasure about the jailing of five members of the NPP accused of attacking supporters of the National Democratic Congress.

He accused the regional executives of not doing enough to secure justice for convicts, giving the impression that “NPP is not worth dying for”.

“You will all agree with us that it takes an innovative, dedicated and competent leader to harness the individuals’ potentials to achieve the expected performance,” he noted.

Mr Suleman said: “We believe that there are very competent, dedicated and loyal people who can lead the NPP to become an attractive and first choice political party in the north.

“We the youth of this party, have searched thoroughly through the party and we strongly believe that there are rather good hands to take care of our great party.

“We the concerned youth of the NPP will do everything possible to ensure that the party is entrusted into dedicated, responsible and trustworthy executives. “We are therefore appealing to the delegates to think about the development of the party first and vote for the right person.

“They should always remember that seeking of individual parochial interest is what is killing the NPP in this region.”
