A leading member of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Alan Kyeremateng, says job creation would be made a key national agenda, if the party is voted in power.

He said an Akufo-Addo led government would work tirelessly to tackle the rising unemployment, particularly among the youth, to enable them to become economically self-supporting.

Addressing members of the Abetifi College of Education branch of the Tertiary Students Confederacy of the NPP, he repeated the party’s election promise to restore the teacher trainee allowances.

Additionally, he said, “automatic engagement of all graduates of the colleges of education would be guaranteed”.

Mr. Kyeremateng, who accompanied the presidential candidate of the NPP, Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo, on his five-day election campaign tour of the Eastern Region, said everything would be done to motivate teachers as a way to enhance the quality of the nation’s education.

He touched on plans to build a factory in every district across the nation and said the party meant business – it was not just to win votes.

“We are firmly convinced that this is the way forward to give employment to the people and stop the drift of the youth from the rural areas to the urban centres in search for jobs.”

Mr. Kyeremanteng gave the assurance that they would also aggressively promote local patronage of “made-in-Ghana goods” to sustain and grow indigenous businesses.

He called for the electorate to vote massively for the NPP to turn the economy around and make things better for everybody.

Mr. Bryan Acheampong, the party’s parliamentary candidate for the Abetifi Constituency, pledged to promote education in the area.
