NPP won the election petition – Ex-NDC MP

A former National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament for the Lower Manya Constituency, Michael Teye Nyaunu, has added his voice to the praises showered on New Patriotic Party (NPP) 2012 Presidential Candidate, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, for accepting the Election Petition verdict, saying Nana Addo's popularity and chances of winning the next elections has gone high.

The former MP, MTN as he is affectionately called, stated that the petitioners “won the battle politically”.

Speaking to TV3’s Edward Kwabi in an exclusive interview on Friday, October 4, 2013, MTN revealed that Nana Addo’s gesture has put him in high stead to lead the NPP again in the 2016 elections.

“Politically, it has shot Nana Addo to a high level,” he said, adding that it does not come as a surprise that a majority of members of the NPP are calling on Nana Addo to be retained.

He revealed that Nana Addo has won himself admirers even in the NDC.

Mr Teye Nyaunu, who fell out with the NDC in the run-up to the 2012 elections as a result of his open support for Nana Konadu Rawlings’ National Democratic Party (NDP), says he is still a member of the NDC and is ready to serve in any capacity in the Mahama administration.

But he said the NDC faces an uphill task in order to retain power in 2016.

“NDC needs an extra work to be done next year,” he said, noting 2013 has already been expended.
