NPP women's group requests female running mate with strong Christian background

An NPP female group called Blue Queens has appealed to the party's leadership to consider a female as the party's running mate for the 2024 election.

Addressing a press conference to state their reasons, the group said it was firmly convinced that the NPP would break the eight, but the easiest way to do so with a convincing margin is by considering a female.

They further revealed that, though they are not being religiously discriminatory, the preferred background they need for that female running mate is Christianity.

Attributing their call to biblical records, the group said God created man and woman in the beginning. Similarly, in the story of Noah and the Ark, God instructed Noah to select a male and a female.

Faustina C. Asantewaa, secretary of the group, addressing the press conference, revealed that the biblical records named above were a clear indication that God had good intentions for male-female pairings from the beginning.

"Biblically, traditionally, and even in the Quran, God has always endorsed male-female partnership. Based on this, it is abundantly clear and evidentially prudent to opine that wherever there is a male-female partnership, there is a potential multiplier effect," she read in the statement.

She continued that Ghana, in its current post-COVID-19 and Russian-Ukraine war economic recovery trajectory, does not need a running mate with swag or flex but rather a persona with a multiplier effect.

"Based on this, we believe that the best avenue for the New Patriotic Party's quest to break the 8 is to make a woman a running mate," they opined.

They said the NPP Blue Queens in the Ashanti Region, which seeks women's empowerment in the region, and Ghana are 100% ready to solidly back a strong Christian background who would be considered a running mate to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, devoid of ethnic, tribal, and lineage intrusion.

Explaining why the call for a female with a Christian background was made, Faustina said that they needed a Christian factor to complement Dr. Bawumia, who has already won the hearts of many Muslims in Ghana.

"We need a woman with a strong political-Christian background who resonates dexterously with both the Orthodox and charismatic churches. We fervently believe that the amalgamation of a female with a sturdy Christian setting and a Muslim (Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia) would result in a herculean, formidable team that will serve as an impermeable bedrock to our victory in 2024," she said.

Numerous calls have been made to the Vice President and flagbearer of the NPP, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, and other stakeholders to consider a female running mate.

The new call from the NPP Blue Queens Ashanti resurrects the pressure of the call for a female to partner with Bawumia for the NPP in 2024.
