NPP wants to kill me - Alice Boon tells Rawlings

The banner headline of the Guide says despite the call by Ghanaians on political parties to refrain from the politics of insults in this campaign season, the ruling National Democratic Congress, (NDC) went ahead to issue personal attack on Mr. Goosie Tanoh, Presidential candidate for the National Reform Party, (NRP) and Mr. J.A. Kufour, presidential candidate for the New Patriotic Party, (NPP).

At the NDC 2000 campaign launching last Sunday at Wa in the Upper West Region, President Rawlings, the last to speak at the rally, using words like "Nonsense", "Provocative", the NDC referred to the opposition as wicked and bad people who should not be voted for. This the paper recalls started when Mrs. Alice Boon MP for Lambusi told the crowd of her experience with the opposition on her first day in Parliament, having been asked by the president to do so.

Speaking in Wala (local language) and English, Mrs Boon, told the crowd that she was made fun of by the NPP members in parliament after she had lost her baby and had become pale and isolated herself, after the parliamentary by-election, which she had won.

She is reported by the paper to have recalled that at a point in time when she was going for her snacks in parliament, she overhead one of the opposition members say "You have not seen anything yet." She accused the NPP of trying to eliminate her through any means since she defeated the NPP in the by- election.
