NPP takes disciplinary action against one of it's leading members

The NPP has taken disciplinary action against one of its leading members, Kakra Essuamuah, for expressing his support for the vice president and NDC presidential candidate Professor Atta Mills.

According to a Graphic report the leadership of the party invited Mr.Essamuah to a disciplinary meeting to explain his actions but he failed to attend the meeting. According to the report the party had no choice but to sanction him in accordance with the laws and regulations of the party.

Speaking to Joy fm in a telephone interview the General Secretary of the NPP, Mr.Dan Botwe confirmed the story and referred to the party's constitution, which stipulates that any member who expressed loyalty to any opposition party or leader forfeits his membership.

He said the party executive will be meeting later in the day to deliberate more on the issue. Mr.Kakra Essaumuah contested for the position of General Secretary of the NPP in 1998 but lost to Mr.Dan Botwe
