NPP supporters putting Akufo-Addo on the back-burner – Okudzeto

A Deputy Communications Director of the troubled opposition New Patriotic Party has bemoaned the conduct of some party members in recent times, pleading with them to reflect deeply on their actions.

In his view, some party members appear to be putting their alternative choice to the ruling party’s John Mahama on the back-burner.

Speaking to Nii Arday Clegg on the Morning Starr on Starr 103.5FM, Okudzeto noted that the party leadership will continue to take necessary measures to restore discipline in the party in spite of the agitations.

“We must exercise our disagreement in the manner that will continue to protect the dignity of our party and also the fact that we have an election to win and work to do as a party.

“We have a campaign to run and need to rally behind our candidate and his running mate who are leading the charge. The country has problems but we have alternatives as a party, and we seem to have put the alternatives that we have on the back-burner and some people are stocking fire in the party on a daily basis,” he fumed.

The internal wrangling in the opposition party has hit the crescendo following the suspension of its national chairman by the National Executive Committee.

Scores of his supporters thronged the party’s headquarters demanding his reinstatement. His spokesperson has described the suspension as an illegality which must be reversed.
