Pollster Mussa Dankwah has stated that backing for the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) is on the decline, while the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) is making gains, based on ongoing tracking polls for March 2026.

In a Facebook post on Saturday March 21, 2026, he said, “Ongoing face-to-face tracking poll for March 2026 shows NPP continues to decline in party affiliations.”

Dankwah further explained that ahead of the 2024 general election, the NPP enjoyed a marginal lead in party identification. “Prior to the 2024 elections, NPP was 37% and NDC, 33%,” he said.

However, the latest figures indicate a significant shift in voter loyalty. “Currently, only 25% of voters openly associate themselves with NPP compared to 46% for the NDC,” he stated.

He further pointed out that the disparity is even sharper in critical swing regions.

“The situation is even worse in the swing regions (Greater Accra, Central, and Western) where only 22% say they are NPP compared to 58% for the NDC,” he said.

According to Mussa Dankwah, recent political events may be influencing this trend.

“In the aftermath of NPP primaries, cocoa price brouhaha, etc., the political environment still appears hostile for the opposition party,” he added.
