Bolgatanga, Sept 3, GNA - The New Patriotic Party (NPP) executive in the Upper East Region has said information the Regional Minister gave at the at 93Meet the Press" programme on August 27 about the development of the Region was false.
The executive members said at a press conference that the execution of projects credited to National Democratic Congress was never true and that most of the projects were started by the former NPP government.
A statement signed and read by the Regional Secretary of the Party, Mr Joseph Dindiok Kpemkpa, said the NDC government was only out to score cheap political points.
Mr Kpemkpa said the claim by the Regional Minister that the government had increased the schools under the School Feeding Programme from 18 to 64 in the Region was untrue.
He said as at the time the NPP government was leaving office, it had in place 64 schools under the programme and that the NDC government had not added any school in the Region to programme.
Mr Kpemkpa said the construction of the bridges at Doninga, Manyaro, Samblongo and Tanga were done by the previous NPP government and not the NDC government.
He said the Bawku Inter-ethnic Peace Committee was formed by the NPP government that led to the Damongo Peace Accord and not formed by the NDC Government as claimed by the Regional Minister.
He said the Minister failed in his presentation to mention the district distribution of the 800 boreholes and KVIP latrines he said were provided under his government for verification, casting doubts veracity of his claim.
Mr Kpemkpa said the fertilizer subsidy which the Regional Minister mentioned that it was re-introduced by the NDC government was untrue.
He said it was the NPP government that reintroduced it after it was abolished by the NDC government in 1990s.
The Regional Minister, Mr Mark Woyongo, said the records were there to show the achievements of the government over the past 20 months and these could be cross checked.
He said his presentation was based on information provided by the districts, heads of departments and institutions and added that he was surprised that the Regional Executive of the NPP could engage in such unhealthy development.
