The Member of Parliament for Trobu, Gloria Owusu, has attributed the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) defeat in the 2024 Election to the party’s attitude, rather than the 2024 presidential candidate, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
Addressing party members during Dr Mahamadu Bawumia's tour of the Greater Accra Region on Friday, October 3, 2025, she stated, “I must emphasise that the 2024 electoral defeat was not caused by a particular candidate; it was the behavior and attitude we exhibited at the polling stations, especially by our executives.”

The lawmaker also stressed the need for party members to maintain the former Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, as the party's flagbearer in the 2028 Election.
"I was at the Dome Market when a market woman approached me. The woman said that if the NPP does not present Bawumia as the party’s flagbearer in the 2028 Election, it would be a grave mistake. She said, 'We do not want a candidate who attacks the personality of others,'" she said.
As part of the tour, Dr Bawumia is expected to hold meetings with constituency and regional executives across the region, continuing a series of engagements designed to harness support for his flagbearership bid.
