NPP’s Sir John Gets A ‘U’ Grade

The General Secretary of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has been given an unprecedented ‘U’ grade for his abysmal performance since assuming the post almost a year ago.
Mr Kojo Twum Boafo who gave the ‘U’ grade to the NPP scribe said it is an indication that he is a useless general secretary for the NPP. This comes on the heels of the NPP’s political ‘F’ grading of President John Evans Atta Mills’ performance in office over the last two years.
Mr Twum Boafo, who is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Free Zones Board, said compared to the impressive performances of his predecessors, Mr Kwadwo Owusu-Afriyie, alias Sir John’s performance so far is an embarrassment to the NPP. He said anytime Sir John opens his mouth, what comes out is disgraceful.
According to Mr Twum Boafo, the NPP has had a number of well respected general secretaries over the years whose shoe seem to be too big for the party’s current general secretary to fit-in. He mentioned Mr Agyenim Boateng, Hon Dan Kweku Botwe and Nana Ohene Ntow who he described as a gentleman’s gentleman.
Mr Twum Boafo who was speaking on Radio Gold’s current affairs programme ‘Alhaji & Alhaji’ on Saturday said the performance and disposition of these former scribes of the NPP enhanced the party’s image. But said Sir John is fast revealing himself as a useless general secretary of the NPP due to his penchant for loose talk.
Many have said that ‘Sir John’ espouses his party’s position on issues unintelligibly. They are of the view that the NPP scribe not only needs some level of horizon broadening but also a lesson in fine-tuning his political language.
The Ghana Free Zones Board CEO said he did not want to refer to the description of Sir John by Hon. Kobby Acheampong, the Deputy Minister of Tourism as “a typical kokoase kruaseni.”
Last week, a group calling itself ‘Mothers of Ghana’ took the NPP general secretary to the cleaners for making statements against the immediate past Minister of Tourism, Hon. Zita Okaikwei, which the group considered to be an insult on motherhood.
In the same vein, Nana Oye Lithur, a respected Woman Lawyer lambasted the NPP general secretary for his unguarded statement on Citi FM, an Accra-based FM station, against Zita and other women ministers of the Mills government affected by the recent ministerial reshuffle, which she considered derogatory to women and mothers.
