The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has formally acknowledged a petition seeking the suspension of former Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Kwaku Asomah-Cheremeh; and Kwasi Kwarteng, spokesperson for presidential aspirant Kennedy Agyapong.
In a statement dated October 2, 2025, and signed by William Yamoah, Director of Finance and Administration, the NPP confirmed that the matter had been referred to the National Executive Committee (NEC) for appropriate action.
“Please be advised that the content of your petition has been noted and shall be referred to the Party's National Executive Committee (NEC) for appropriate consideration and further action per the Party's constitutional procedures,” the statement said.

The party assured the petitioners that their concerns had been duly recognised and would be addressed in line with established internal mechanisms.
It stressed that all members are subject to the party’s constitution and disciplinary framework.
According to the statement, the leadership remains committed to safeguarding the values, structures, and integrity of the NPP, adding that such petitions strengthen the democratic culture within the organisation.
