Communications team member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Ellen Ama Daaku, has disclosed that the party rendered an apology to former President John Agyekum Kufuor following his recent expression of displeasure.

It will be recalled that in a reflective conversation with Abetifi MP and NPP flagbearer hopeful, Dr Bryan Acheampong, former President Kufuor expressed feelings of marginalisation within the party.

He lamented the lack of engagement from the current leadership, stating that despite his significant contributions and institutional memory, he was being left out of key party decisions.

In response, Ama Daaku revealed that some members of the party promptly reached out to the former president to apologise and address his concerns.

Speaking in an interview with GhanaWeb TV at the 2025 NPP National Delegates Conference on July 19, 2025, Ama Daaku emphasised that the party had since resolved the matter with Kufuor and encouraged other aggrieved individuals to speak up.

“His Excellency John Agyekum Kufuor, when he said he wasn’t consulted on a few things, we quickly went to apologise. He speaks his mind. I mean, he’s not afraid of anybody.

“So, if they are not happy with something, I’m sure they’ll tell us. We don’t need anybody to come and tell us. These are men who have been presidents of this country,” she said.

The 2025 New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Delegates Conference is taking place at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium on July 19, 2025.
