NPP organizer arrested over police recruitment fraud

The Western Regional Police Command has busted one Amos Kofi Brown, 47, for allegedly duping a total of 40 persons of various sums of money, under the pretext of facilitating their recruitment into the Ghana Police Service.

The suspect, who is the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Deputy Organizer of the Takoradi constituency, the paper gathered, took advantage of the aspiration of the 40 persons to join the Ghana Police Service to defraud them.

Each of the victims allegedly paid a sum of GH¢4,000 to Kofi Brown, bringing the total amount paid to him to GH¢160,000.

Addressing members of the press, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Alex Quainoo, the Western Regional Police Commander said after collecting the above mentioned money from his victims, he gave them fake recruitment letters.

According to the police, the NPP Deputy Organizer had claimed that so far, each of his victims paid GH¢4,000 to him.

The Western Regional Police Boss said when a search was conducted in the house of the suspect, 16 photocopies of result slips, four (4) Ghana Police appointment letters and prospectus, six (6) birth certificates, list of names of the alleged victims amongst others were found in his room.

For now, the Police have mounted a search for one Baba Alifa, (currently at large) who is believed to be the accomplice of the suspect.
