NPP not ready for power In 2016 - NDC

Kwabena Minta Akando, NDC Member of Parliament (MP) for Juaboso says ‘everything points’ to the fact that the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has not yet decided to move from opposition.

“To me, with everything going on in the NPP and how they are handling it, they (NPP) are not ready for power in 2016, simple…” he asserted.

His remarks follow the recent ‘wrangling’ within the NPP especially after Dr. Konadu Apraku, a former Minister of State in the erstwhile Kufuor administration, declared his intention to contest for the flagbearership position of the party.

Subsequently, Dr Apraku who was also the campaign manager of Nana Addo in 2008 has also made various comments concerning the party and its 2012 flagbearer, Nana Akufo Addo.

His utterances were welcomed with rage as the majority of NPP members were not happy with him.

General Secretary of the party, Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie also known as ‘Sir John’ has indicated in an interview on OKAY FM that Dr Apraku is making such utterances because of promises he has received from NDC.

Contributing to a panel discussion on ‘Kokrokoo’ Friday, Hon. Akando remarked that even though it is normal for such wrangling to go on in any political party, it is how you handle it that matters.

“This issues occur in every party, but when they do, you analyse the issues and not rain insults on people. NPP is not handling the issues well…when you do that you worsen the case, and as for us we will analyse the issues. If they insist on bringing Nana Addo again, as for us we don’t have any problem. Dr Konadu Apraku has already indicated that Nana Addo is not the people’s choice… when they insist, we will win again” he added.
