The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has officially announced the start of registration of additional delegates for the party’s pending presidential primary scheduled for Saturday, January 31, 2026.
In a statement signed by william Yamoah, Secretary of the Presidential Elections Committee, on August 26, 2025, the party explained that the decision follows Article 13(1)(11) of its constitution and the transitional provisions adopted at the National Annual Delegates Conference held in Accra on July 19, 2025.

“The following new categories of Party officials and dignitaries have been included in the upcoming Presidential Primary voter register (album),” the statement said.
The new categories of eligible voters include all former regional and constituency executives, members of the National Council of Elders, thirty members of the National Council of Patrons, as well as all past national officers.
Other groups added are; “All former party card-bearing Members of Parliament, parliamentary candidates, ministers, deputy ministers, Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs), and external branch executives.”
The inclusion also extends to the youth wing through the Tertiary Students Confederacy (TESCON).
“TESCON President from each recognized tertiary institution, the National TESCON Coordinator, all Regional TESCON Coordinators, and one TESCON Patron from each recognized institution will also form part of the voter register.”
Additionally, there will be ten members from each Regional Council of Elders, ten patrons from each region, five members from each Constituency Council of Elders, and five constituency patrons are to be included.

“All officers that fall under the categories above are requested to register their names with their respective organisational structures, including the National Secretariat, Regions, Constituencies and External Branches, as applicable with immediate effect," it noted.
To improve access, the party announced that “an online registration link will also be made available and circulated to the External Branch Executives to register digitally. All other qualified members are advised to liaise with their respective Regions and Constituencies to register. The registration form may be downloaded from the Party’s official website.”
The party stated that the deadline for registration is Friday, September 19, 2025, and only individuals who meet the outlined criteria will be allowed to register and vote.
“The Presidential Elections Committee shall undertake a comprehensive verification and validation of the Party’s album to ensure that only an authentic and credible register is used for the conduct of the presidential election," it noted.
The party also assured its members that the process is in line with its core principles.
“We count on your usual cooperation and adherence to this directive in furtherance of the Party’s commitment to fairness, inclusiveness, and transparency," it added.
