NPP is interested in the country's progress, stability- Candidate

Elubo (W/R) Nov.16 -GNA-Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo, Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), on Saturday said the peace and stability the country needs could be realised when the will of the people is allowed to prevail in the upcoming elections. Addressing separate rallies at Elubo, Essiama, Agona Nkwanta and Kwesimintsim during his two-day campaign tour of the southern part of the Western Region, he said the will of the people should be allowed to prevail because Ghana needs peace and stability in to develop. Nana Akufo-Addo said his government would strengthen the country's democracy, respect human rights and the rule of law and promote reconciliation to unite the people.

He said the NPP would not rig the elections which would be managed by the Electoral Commission (EC) without government control. Nana Akufo-Addo said the party's commitment to free and fair elections is demonstrated by its introduction of transparent ballot boxes and photo voters' identity cards.

He said a Domestic Content Law would be passed within the first year of his presidency to make it mandatory for oil companies to employ a certain percentage of their workforce locally. Nana Akufo-Addo said the law would also ensure that Ghanaians acquire a certain percentage of shared ownership in the oil industry and oil companies would make certain percentage of procurements locally. He urged the people to prepare for the take-off of the country's oil industry by acquiring skills employable in the industry saying his government would handle the industry in a business-like manner with Parliament.
