In a report YEN understands that Shiraz Jawol has levelled accusations against some high ranking officers of the New Patriotic Party for corruption.

According to the Peasant Farmers Association of Ghana’s National Organisers and President, some NDC executives in the Upper West Region took over some 20000 bags of subsidized fertilizers.

Media reports had earlier indicated that the “missing” bags of fertilizer were being smuggled into Burkina Faso. However, Jawol, speaking with Accra FM, stated that the truth is “financiers, frontiers, big people of the NPP” have taken over the fertilizers and are reselling them.

He stated that these unscrupulous elements were hoarding the fertilizers with the intentions of selling them during peak farming season at a steep price.

“I’m talking for Sissala West and East. We know those who do fertiliser business in these two respective districts”, he said on Accra FM. He cautioned that if the matter is not expediently handled, farmer will not be able to go about their duties which will lead to lower income.

Jawaz advocated that community watchdogs be set up to curb the menace as “security people” will surely be a failure.
