NPP campaign messages give hope - Political Scientist

A political analyst and Lecturer at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) Mohammed Abass, has observed that campaign promises made by the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) are Concrete, achievable and gives hope to Ghanaians compared to its opponents.

Whereas the NPP seem to be assuring Ghanaians of what it seeks to achieve if mandated during the December polls, he observes that the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) is only interested in reechoing clichés.

According to him, the NPP has so far proven it has a good campaign message for Ghanaians but that is not enough to solidify their electoral victory at the December polls advising that much needs to be done.

“They have a good message for Ghanaians but that is not enough. They need to concretize their messages for the electorate to believe in them. Project an image they are united because perceptions sway more than reality. Come out with something that will make them appear they are more united”, he said on the Ultimate Breakfast Show hosted by Lantam Papanko.

He believes the NPP stands a better chance of winning the 2016 elections in the wake of the problems bedeviling the Ghanaian economy but warned that it was not an automatic win for the opposition since they will have to work harder to merit the victory.

“The president has consistently said the NPP is disunited and this perception indeed works and I will advise the party to work towards discarding that perception because some voters may abstain from the elections but if convinced, they will vote for the opposition. The situation on ground will favour the opposition party but it is not automatic. Politically because someone has failed does not translate into votes for you. They must be able to convince very well”, he added.
