NPP Primaries: Bryan Acheampong's coordinator quits; declares support for Bawumia

The NPP Constituency Chairman for Essikado Ketan Constituency in the Western Region, Kwabena Afful, has thrown his support behind former Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, to be elected the NPP candidate for the 2028 election.

Afful, a coordinator for Bryan Acheampong, ditched the Bryan campaign yesterday during the visit of Bawumia as part of his tour of the Western Region.

'I entered politics to serve the people, not to enrich myself' - Dr Bawumia

The Chairman urged his constituents not to repeat what happened in the last NPP primaries in 2023, which Dr Bawumia placed second in the constituency .

"My issue is very simple. Two years ago in 2023, Dr Bawumia was here in Esikado-Ketan to appeal to us to vote for him. Unfortunately, he was second here. Nonetheless, he expressed his appreciation to is ," the Chairman said.

"I want to plead with all of you that this time, come January 2026, let us all get solidly behind Dr Bawumia and give him a resounding victory when the votes are counted."

After tribal slur on Bawumia, Kwaku Boateng now rallies support for 'in-law' Ken Agyapong

The Chairman's declaration would come as a big blow to the Bryan Acheampong campaign in the constituency and the region.

The former Vice President, who has been campaigning in the western region since Sunday, has been receiving endorsements from various groups within the region.
