Former Member of Parliament for Bosomefreho, Akwasi Darko Boateng, has expressed strong confidence in Dr Bryan Acheampong, predicting he will garner 60% of the votes in the 2028 general elections if he becomes the New Patriotic Party (NPP)’s flagbearer.

Boateng made this prediction during an exclusive interview with OTEC News Reporter Kwame Agyenim on Monday, September 22, 2025.

The former MP emphasised Dr Acheampong’s competence and unblemished character, highlighting his appeal to both the party’s grassroots and floating voters.

He believes that Dr Acheampong’s positive political image is a significant asset that the NPP can leverage to regain power.

“Even though you are doing the questioning, if tables were to turn and I asked you to mention any negative news on the scandal associated with Dr Acheampong, you would get none.

“The only negative news about him is the stuff fabricated by others to score cheap political points; other than that, if you look at him with an objective eye, you will know he’s more than capable of leading Ghana,” Boateng stated.

Boateng further added, “I’m not saying the other aspirants are not capable; however, Dr Acheampong stands tall when comparing them, hence my call on delegates of the NPP to choose him as flagbearer.”

He stressed that those who have interacted with Dr Acheampong can attest to his humility, strategic thinking, and unifying nature, qualities he believes are crucial for the NPP to win power.
