The flagbearership bid of former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has received a resounding endorsement from 63 out of the 87 NPP Members of Parliament on the Minority side, marking a major show of confidence ahead of the party’s upcoming presidential primaries.

In a powerful group statement, the MPs reaffirmed their unflinching loyalty and belief in Dr. Bawumia’s leadership, describing him as the embodiment of the NPP’s enduring spirit — a man whose record of service, vision, and humility stands unmatched.

“Dr Bawumia represents the enduring spirit of our Party — visionary, resilient, diligent, and pragmatic. From his days as a brilliant economist at the Bank of Ghana to his remarkable stewardship as Vice President, he has proven that leadership is not about words, but work; not about entitlement, but excellence and delivery,” the statement read.

The MPs extolled Dr Bawumia’s transformative influence on governance, citing his role in driving Ghana’s digital revolution, promoting financial inclusion, and modernizing public service delivery. They hailed his leadership as one that has “brought clarity to governance, inspired innovation, and built systems that work.”

Describing him as “a leader who respects our history yet reimagines our future,” the legislators emphasized that Dr Bawumia’s unwavering commitment and long years of service — as a four-time running mate and two-term Vice President — demonstrate his deep loyalty and faith in the NPP.

“He has walked with the NPP through every season of victory and trial — serving faithfully, defending our record, and carrying our message with conviction and grace. Dr Bawumia has been tested, trusted, and proven,” they declared.

The statement, which solidifies the MPs’ earlier endorsement, underscores a growing consolidation of parliamentary support behind Dr. Bawumia, as the NPP gears up for what promises to be a decisive internal contest.
