NPP Polls: Disqualified aspirant in Ellembelle declares support for qualified aspirants

The disqualified aspirant for the governing NPP in Ellembelle Constituency, Joseph Apor Adjei popularly known as Boin, has declared his total support for the qualified parliamentary aspirants.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) would conduct its parliamentary primaries in all orphan Constituencies in the country on Saturday, September 28, 2019.

Since 1992, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has not won the Ellembelle parliamentary seat before except on an alliance.

The seat, is currently occupied by Emmanuel Armah Kofi-Buah, an NDC MP who annexed it in 2008.

The current District Chief Executive (DCE) for Ellembelle, Kwasi Bonzoh has been running unopposed for the NPP since 2012, but this time around, he is facing tight competition.

All four aspirants who picked forms to contest the primaries were subsequently vetted in Takoradi.

The aspirants were; Kwasi Bonzoh (Ellembelle DCE), Anna Horma Akaisi Meizy (NPP Western Regional Treasurer), Isaac Menlah and Joseph Apor Adjei (business moguls).

But, the National Parliamentary Vetting Committee of the party later disqualified the business mogul, Joseph Apor Adjei from contesting in the parliamentary primaries without any tangible reason.

Mr. Apor Adjei subsequently petitioned the party, but no reason was given to him for his disqualification.

The party later cleared three aspirants to contest the Ellembelle NPP parliamentary primaries on September 28, 2019.

They are; Ellembelle DCE, Kwasi Bonzoh, Anna Akaisi Hormah Miezah, the Western Regional Treasurer of NPP and one miner, Isaac Menlah.

But in a letter addressed to the leadership of the party by the disqualified aspirant and sighted by Daniel Kaku, our Western Regional Correspondent, he said he has accepted the decision taken by the party in good faith.

"Following the outcome of the NPP's National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held on the 12th September, 2019, circulating on social media, of which clearance did not favour me among other colleague petitioners, I wish to thank the Executives (Constituency, Regional, National and NEC) wholeheartedly for their decision", the letter read.

"Again, I wish to thank the Executives for the opportunity to even pick the "FORMS" when the courage was gathered. May God bless them", he added.

He indicated that "To my colleagues, the remaining three (3) Aspiring Parliamentary Candidates (APCs) in Ellembelle who sailed through the vetting, I wish them GOOD LUCK".

He, therefore seized the opportunity to declare his total support for the three aspirants and pledged to support the aspirant who would emerge victorious in the upcoming parliamentary primaries to win the Ellembelle parliamentary seat for the first time in the history of Ghana's politics.

"My word to them is anyone who will emerge victorious come 28th September, 2018, will have my unflinching support towards the 2020 general elections", he assured.

He said capturing the Ellembelle parliamentary seat in 2020 was his main focus and therefore urged all party members to work harder to ensure victory become theirs in 2020.

"Capturing the Ellembelle seat in 2020 is my focus and I strongly believe it is the goal of NPP executives. Therefore, regardless of the decision and treatment meted out to me, we will continue to work hard to ensure victory 2020 in Ellembelle", he emphasized.

To his disgruntled supporters, he called on them to stay calm and also support the decision of the party.

"I believe you know we have always been winners and not losers. Let us respect the decision of the NPP, that is what the Executives have decided", he said.
