NPP Organiser calls for extension of voters' registration

Kasoa (C/R), May 21, GNA - Muhamed Musah Ninety-Four, NPP Youth Organiser, on Friday appealed to the Electoral Commission to extend the voters' registration exercise to allow more people to take part in this year's general election.

He noted that more than 2,000 eligible voters in and around Kasoa in the Central Region risked being disfranchised if the Commission refused to heed the appeal. According to him, a survey conducted by the NPP after the exercise revealed that about 2,000 youth, who had attained the age of 18 and above, could not register during the 10-day exercise.

Some of the affected voters were people who wanted to transfer their votes from their previous places of residence to Kasoa where they now live. Mr Musah-Ninety-Four said Kasoa is expanding very fast and, as a result, the population is increasing almost everyday.

He, therefore, appealed to the Electoral Commission to, as a matter of urgency, re-consider extending the time for the exercise.
