NPP Bought 15 Houses For $3.75m

• But Costs Of STX Houses Range Between $12510 and $73,000

The Kufuor-led regime of the New Patriotic Party which is vehemently opposing the current government’s decision to solve the deplorable and dehumanizing accommodation of the country’s security services, purchased 15 three-bedroom Self-contain houses to resettle senior military officers at a total cost $3.75million.

The houses which cost $250,000 were purchased from an estate developer, Alhaji Yusif also known as Dare-re- salam in 2007. The houses are located around the Naval Ward room near the 37 military hospital.

The NPP government acquired the houses to resettle the military officers who were then resident at where the Presidential Palace (Jubilee House) is now situated. The Military officers were evicted while their residents were demolished to pave way for the construction of the Jubilee House.

Meanwhile, the same NPP is passionately opposing the STX Korea and Government of Ghana agreement which will result in the Atta Mills government providing the security services with 30,000 units of decent and comfortable housing.

The cost of the STX houses as made available to the Parliamentary Committee on Finance, Works and Housing, ranges between $12,510 and $73,000 and this is far lower than what the NPP government acquired to resettle the military officers. Comparatively, the projected cost of a three- bedroom flat of the STX housing project is $43,000.

The cost of one-bedroom (bedsitter) flat for post recruit is $12,510, whilst that of two-bedroom flat is $32,000. Three- bedroom flat with an outhouse is projected to cost $65,000 whilst four-bedroom flat with outhouse is $73,000
