NMP undertakes agricultural production

Kwamoso-Akuapem, March 10, GNA-- The National Mobilisation Progrmme (NMP) in the Akuapem North district is being assisted by the Ministry of Food and Agriculture to map out fertile lands for modern agricultural production.

As part of the youth-in-agriculture (YIA) scheme, the NMP planned to settle unemployed youth and engage them in the production of non-traditional export crops, livestock production and agro-forestry.

The district liaison officer of the NMP, Mr Ben Mensah announced this when he conducted newsmen round some farms being cultivated by mobisquads at Kwameso, near Mamfe.

He said the district had 182 mobisquads with over 2,000 membership who are engaged in agriculture, cottage industries, food processing and carpentry. Mr Mensah said the NMP has been assisting communities to provide boreholes and health facilities.
