NGO lauds ICT icon for award

Accra, Dec. 13, GNA - The Ghana Country Award Council (GCAC) on Thursday congratulated Dr Nii Narku Quaynor, Chief Executive Officer of Network Computer Systems (NCS), for being the first African to receive the John B Postel Award at the just-ended Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) meeting in Vancouver, Canada.

A statement signed by Mr Kobina Asamani said Dr Quaynor was one of the very prominent and distinguished Ghanaian icons and achievers who had attained such a renowned status in view of his selfless, exceptional and professional dedication towards development in the area of ICT which had had a true reflection on Ghana, Africa and humanity as a whole. Dr Nii Narku Quaynor is a Fellow of the Ghana National Honorary Awards of Fame and a Celebrity Award "Dr Nii Narku Quaynor ICT Excellence Award" was named after him in July this year.

"As the convenor of Africa Network Operators Group (AfNOG), and CEO of Network Computer Systems, his pioneering role in Internet Development for nearly two decades has finally been recognized and rewarded with the 'John B Postel Award' this year by the World Internet Society," the statement said.
