NGO Congratulates IEA

Life and Knowledge Foundation,( L& KF) a Civil Society Organisation (CSO) has sent a congratulatory message to the Institute of Economic Affairs for winning the prestigious 2010 Millennium Excellence Awards.
In a statement signed by the Executive Director of L& KF Mr Prosper Kofi Afealete, said they are proud to share in the principles of Good Governance, Quality Health Care and Literacy .
“The CSO recognized the trail blazer role of your Think Tank, Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA) in ensuring Good Governance, democracy, a free and fair market economy in Ghana and in Africa as a whole.” it added.
The statement further recounted the excellent role played by IEA in generating enhanced information to assist Policy Makers and the in-depth analysis, evaluation of programmes as equaled by none.
It recognized the role IEA has played in supporting District/ Municipal Assemblies to build and enhance the capacity of elected members and above all organised regular capacity building in order to enhance the institutional aptitude of Ghanaian Political Parties and also others in the West African Sub –Region.
The popular Ghanaian appeal and the established reputation the IEA have, anchored by some of Ghana’s finest scholars contributed immensely to the enhanced democracy in Ghana with special mention of 2008 Presidential and Parliamentary Elections, Presidential and Parliamentary Debates, Election Observation and others such as proposal of various Bills to Government.
“It is our believe these are just a few of the many achievements you have chalked in addition to numerous contributions made to national discourse on topical issues”.
It also mentioned the support for Decentralisation, Transition Bill, Oil and Gas, Disability, Election and currently the contribution to the 1992 Constitution Review process, as some of the landmark achievements and called on the rest of Ghana to congratulate IEA for winning the special award for its role in fostering good governance and multiparty democracy in Ghana and West Africa over the last twenty-one years.”
They are optimistic that the coming of year 2011, IEA led by its indefatigable Administrator Mrs Jean Mensah, Board,Staff and Fellows of the Institute would as usual churn out programmes geared towards consolidating both Ghana’s economic and political gains.
The statement also applaud other distinguished Institutions and Individual recipients of the 2010 Millennium Excellence Awards.
