NGO Assists Six Communities

Kwaobondze (Central Region), 10 Nov. Plan International, an NGO has within the past seven months, provided 36 classrooms, school furniture and other facilities worth 300 million cedis to six communities in the Awutu-Effutu-Senya District. The organisation has already provided similar facilities as well as water and KVIP for seven other towns and villages within the district. Commissioning one of such projects at Kwaobondze at the weekend, the District Chief Executive, Lieutenant Daniel William Osardu (rtd) commended the organisation for the immense contribution it has made towards the improvement of the living conditions of the people. He Assured Planned International that his outfit will support all its endeavours to enhance development in the district. Lt. Osardu advised the communities which have benefited from the NGO's package to use the facilities provided them judiciously. Alhaji H. Madeese, programme manager for the Awutu- Bawjiase zone of the organisation, asked parents to ensure that their children take their lessons seriously to enable them to benefit from the scholarship scheme which Planned International has instituted for school children in parts of Central and Eastern regions where the organisation is operating. Alhaji Madeese said his organisation would continue to assist the government and the district assemblies in their effort to promote education in the country. Alhaji Baba Lamin Abu-Sadat, MP for the area thanked Planned International for its immense contribution to the development of the district and promised to assist the beneficiary communities to set up special task forces to help maintain the facilities provided by the NGO.
