NDC will win 2016 by 1million votes if… - Omane Boamah

Communication Minister Dr Edward Omane Boamah has said the incumbent National Democratic Congress (NDC) will win the 2016 general elections with a wider margin than it did in 2012 if the biggest opposition party remains fragmented.

Speaking on Joy FM’s special end-of-year edition of its news analysis and current affairs programme ‘newsfile’ at the Coconut Grove Hotel on Saturday December 12, 2015, Dr Omane Boamah said the NDC will be going into the 2016 general election wishing that the NPP puts its house in order.

“If they will not, we are going to expand the over 300,000 gap that was given in 2012 to almost a million,” he added.

Dr Omane Boamah’s comment follows the indefinite suspension of three national executives of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). They include chairman Paul Afoko, General Secretary Kwabena Agyepong and second Vice-Chairman Sammy Crabbe.

The NPP insists the suspension of the three will not affect the party’s chances in the 2016 elections. The Danquah-Busia-Dombo family has also denied allegations that flagbearer Nana Akufo-Addo had a hand in the suspension.

But Dr. Omane Boamah said the NPP can continue to celebrate mediocrity in leadership.

According to him, corruption and a lack of organisational skills, are what have led to all that “we are seeing in the NPP today.”
