NDC top men Rescind Decision?

Former President Rawlings says the outcome of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) delegates’ congress underlines the party’s strength and its capacity to facilitate greater democratic discourse. He has also congratulated teeming NDC members, executives, delegates and all those who contributed to the success of the party’s congress. The ex-President was speaking at a meeting with the two NDC regional chairmen who tended in their resignation letters at the end of the congress last Sunday.

The two regional chairmen explained that their action was based on certain acts committed by some members of the party during the congress. According to them, “executives and non-executives turned themselves into paymasters, prior to, and during the recent congress, in an effort to influence delegates with money.”

They contended that committed members of the party should have been allowed to vote with their conscience and not be influenced by money. The ex-President praised them for their integrity and commitment but advised them to reconsider their decision and return to their posts.

“As valued and experienced members of the party, your wise counsel and invaluable opinions will be denied the party by walking away. By standing firm and resolute within the fold, you will be in a position to confront any irregularities within the organization.” The two chairmen have already indicated their willingness to rescind their decision.
