NDC's victory will be easier if Konadu runs on NDP ticket - Ephson

Pollster Ben Ephson Jr., says the ruling National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) victory in the December polls will be made easier if former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings becomes the presidential candidate of the newly formed splinter party.

Both former President Rawlings and his wife have been linked to the formation of the National Democratic Party (NDP) but neither of them has come out to publicly admit their association with the party.

Mrs Rawlings however met with officials of the NDP in the Ashanti Region on Monday. The “fruitful” meeting, according to the NDP, was part of the party’s attempts at convincing the former First Lady to lead the party into the December polls.

But Ben Ephson who is the Managing Editor of the Daily Dispatch Newspaper told XYZ News it will be a blessing in disguise for the NDC if its founder’s wife leads the NDP into the December elections.

“We are doing some work and I believe that the NDC should pray that Nana Konadu is the flagbearer of the NDP. It will be like insults of blessings,” he said.

He said polls conducted in the past indicated that Prof. Mills only won the support of the Central Region because he stood against the Rawlingses’ choice of Mrs. Betty Mould Iddrisu as running-mate in 2008.

He suggested that might be to the advantage of President Mahama and the NDC if Nana Konadu goes ahead to contest on the ticket of the NDP.
