An aspiring National Democratic Congress( NDC) parliamentary candidate for Weija/Gbawe Constituency in the Greater Accra Region, Obuobia Darko-Opoku, has denied allegations that her camp has bribed a fellow aspirant, Ayiku Ocansey, with an amount of GHc2 million to drop out of the race.

According to a statement from her campaign team, ?#?Obuobia2016, the allegation is false and urged party members to disregard it. ?

“We wish to to state that for the past three years, our candidate has invested all her time and other resources to ensure that she plays a role in bringing development and progress to the Weija-Gbawe Constituency. As a result, some communities have had access to portable drinking water for the first time, street lights have been provided for most parts of the constituency whiles bridges have been provided to link some villages to the city,” the statement said.

“Our campaign is based on issues, it is based on our solid track record and the better plan we have for the people of Weija-Gbawe and we believe that we are a better choice for the people. We also believe that competition brings out the best and are therefore not interested in buying anybody out of this race, the statement added.

According to the statement, Madam Darko-Opoku, who is also the Deputy Chief Executive of the Ghana Free Zones Board, is very ready to meet any candidate at the polls on November 7 if approved by the vetting committee.

The former Radio Gold Presenter, who represented the party in the last election, is widely tipped to win the party's primaries in November due to the several philanthropic activities that her NGO, Obuobia Foundation, has embarked on in the constituency, coupled with huge support from the grassroots.

Meanwhile, the campaign team is planning a mega campaign launch at Mallam Junction on Saturday.

Big names in the party are expected to join thousands of NDC supporters in the Weija Gbawe Constituency for the launch.
