Former Deputy General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Koku Anyidoho has incurred the wrath of some spokespersons of the party over some comments he made recently about the country’s heightening insecurity.

Mr. Dela Edem, a known communicator of the NDC National Communications Team and the Greater Accra Regional Organiser of the party, Mr. Anthony Nukpenu, have heavily criticised Mr. Anyidoho, a once powerful person in the NDC under the late Professor Mills’ administration.

The two who were speaking on Inside Politics on Power 97.9 FM on Monday took a swipe at Mr Anyidoho for lambasting the NDC over its position on the current insecurity in the country.

‘The Bull’ as he is affectionately called, during a radio interview last week went for the jugular of NDC National Communications Officer, Sammy Gyamfi following a press conference he addressed last week to condemn the government over the recent spate of kidnappings and violent attacks on some Ghanaians.

One of the kidnappers of two Canadian nationals who were rescued last week, Seidu Mba, was alleged to be a member of pro-NPP vigilante group, Delta Force, sparking a debate as to which political party was contributing to the insecurity of the country.

In a press conference addressed at the national headquarters of the NDC, Sammy Gyamfi said the NDC could not be blamed for the fear some Ghanaians were living in as a result of the incidents of kidnappings recorded in some parts of the country as the ruling NPP had made it look like through the trial of NDC national chairman, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo who has been accused of masterminding such acts.

But Koku Anyidoho, rubbished the stance of the NDC on the matter and said those who politicised the kidnappings ought to “be cast out like demons.”

“Anybody who holds press conference and politicise crime is not a politician but a politicaster…True politicians apply wisdom…” he said while jabbing the NDC over the press conference, saying those behind the press conference had not the country at heart unlike himself.

But reacting to Koku’s interview which is being circulated by hundreds of NPP apparatchiks to score political points, NDC vociferous communicator said Koku did not speak as a former leading member of the NDC.

“Sammy Gyamfi is our boss,” he said and warned that they [communicators] of the party will reply him in equal measure.

“I want to advise Koku Anyidoho, if he does not stop attacking us, some of us will enter his stomach and appear in his mouth,” he added.

On his part, Anthony Nukpenu said Koku Anyidoho had stabbed the party in the back with those comments because of his selfish interest.

“Because you are being taken care of by some people [in the NPP], you are attacking your own party…Some of us supported you when the CID harassed you and kept you in cells for days. some party perons were shot, others were beaten and you think it is good to destroy your party in that way,” Nukpenu said angrily.

The NDC organiser believes the NPP is manipulating Koku Anyidoho to rise against his own party so they could make the party unattractive. He however vowed to oppose such comments as the party works hard to regain power in 2020.
