NDC members jubilate; but mixed reactions greet Mahama’s declaration

The NDC has been hit with excitement about the declaration by former President John Mahama of his intention to contest the upcoming National Democratic Congress Primaries.

MyNewsGh.com took a quick look at how social media is reacting to the news.

While some of the comments said he will never be President of Ghana again, and that he has been tainted with corruption, NDC diehards were more than excited about his announcement with many of them promising to go all out to ensure he becomes President again.

“I sense yet another historically shameful defeat looming, your active political retirement awaits u in 2020”, one comment said.

“I wonder why some people are blind in everything, hmmmmm.. U r sitting there commenting JM 2020. Sit there and deceive your self Apuuuuuuuuuuuuuu”.

On his specific chances, one social media user added, “5050 koraa he will not come back. He will chop 30%. This is the actual confirmation your Excellency.”

But there was massive support from many, many NDC diehards who welcomed the news.

Unofficial declaration

Former President John Dramani Mahama has officially announced his decision to stage a comeback and lead the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2020 elections.

The former President at one of the Unity Walks recently, promised to announce his decision at the opportune time following incessant calls from members of the party who were pressing upon him to come back and lead the party.

In a post on his official Facebook page on Saturday sighted by MyNewsGH.com, Mr Mahama who lost to current President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo said:

“I want to congratulate the rank & file and executives of our party, the NDC, at all levels for the commitment and work rate we have put into our reorganization efforts”, he said.
