The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has laughed off claims by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ashanti Region that it holds the key to determining who gets elected as executive member of the NDC.
Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NPP, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, on Friday made an audacious vow to determine who gets executive positions within the NDC from the constituency to the national level.
He told a gathering of NPP constituency executives that in line with his agenda, he has already influenced the just ended nationwide membership registration of the NDC, which forms part of the latter’s reoganisation exercise.
“I am going to decide for the NDC from constituency to constituencies,” he told the NPP executives in English but added in Twi “I’ve influenced their registration; in due time, i will come out to prove to them”.
But a statement issued by the Ashanti Regional Secretary of NDC, Raymond Tandoh, said the claims by Mr. Antwi Boasiako should be treated “with contempt knowing his innate ostentatious and boastful nature”.
The NDC described the claims as “campaign platform brag” of the NPP chairman, and urged NDC members to concentrate on the ongoing reorganization exercise at the various branches of the party across the country.
The statement said the NDC would work to “salvage” Ghana from the hands of the NPP which has disappointed Ghanaians with unfulfilled promises.
