A leading member of the United Party, Hopeson Adorye, has praised the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) for what he described as its outstanding work after assuming office.

In an interview on UTV, and shared on X on January 5, 2025, Hopeson Adorye noted that the political party has every bragging right to claim that it laid the foundation for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in 2016.

According to Hopeson Adorye, who serves as the Director of Field Operations for the United Party, the NDC performed extremely well before leaving office; hence, members of the NPP should refrain from boasting about laying the foundation for the current government.

“Those of us in the United Party will praise a government when it is doing well. All these people who claim to be experts when sharing their thoughts about a government are full of lies. They speak in favour of the political party they support.

“When John Mahama was leaving the economy, he left inflation at 13% for the NPP, so he has every bragging right to say that he laid the foundation for them,” he said.

Hopeson Adorye also slammed the NPP, describing the work of the opposition while in office as weak.

According to him, the NPP did shoddy work while in office, adding that they did whatever they wanted without considering the ordinary Ghanaian, while labelling most politicians in the country as thieves.

“When you (NPP) took over, a litre of fuel was selling at almost GH¢100. Even the dollar was selling at GH¢17, so I don’t see any foundation they are talking about. You even pushed inflation to 24% before leaving the government.

“This government is on course. When you were in government, your members were awarding unnecessary contracts. They gave a single contract to about 10 people just because they were interested in their percentage. This country is filled with politicians and civilians who are thieves,” he added.
