NDC gov’t should render apology to Ghanaians... - NPP

The only way to resolve the current strike actions and calm the agitation of public sector workers, according to a leading member of the New Patriotic Party, is for the Mahama-led NDC government to openly tell Ghanaians about the reality on the ground regarding the economy and apologize to the citizenry for lying that Ghana is in a better state of condition.

NPP Member of Parliament for Bantama, Hon. Henry Kwabena Kokofu believes though former presidents Rawlings and Kufour had limited resources as compared to the current administration which is blessed with oil find, they performed creditably by achieving their priorities.

Speaking on Okay fm, the NPP MP said that the country is in a worse state economically because the NDC government spent so much resources during their 2012 campaign by erecting huge bill boards and embarking on high-fancy election advertisements; adding that the mind-blowing commercials led Ghanaians to believe there is so much money in the system.

Quite sarcastically, the Bantama MP felt under the current administration, Ghanaians should be basking in the "best" of everything since the prices of gold and cocoa are high on the international market and the NDC did claim the era of former president Mills was the "Better Ghana Agenda".

He therefore inquired “what went wrong for the NDC government to tell Ghanaians through the finance minister that the economy is in red and that government has to borrow money before it can pay the arrears of the aggrieved doctors and teachers”.

To him, the dire financial straits that the country finds itself in is as a result of incompetence and misplacement of priorities on the part of the Mahama government.
