NDC disowns Gbeho, others

The Evening News reports that the leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has advised its supporters not to waste their votes on party members who have decided to go independent in the December election.

The paper quotes the party general secretary Alhaji Yahaya as saying, "we have not approved of the nomination of any independent candidate and nobody should vote for them. This he is reported to have said in the Upper West region where he introduced the eight parliamentary candidates for the December elections.

He advised party supporters to be mindful of those who profess to be NDC members and yet stand as independent candidates.

Evening News recalls that prominent NDC members including Victor Gbeho Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Alfred Agbesi, private legal practitioner among others, who failed to get party approval to contest parliamentary seats in the Anlo area in the Volta Region and Ashiaman in the Greater Accra Region among others, kicked against the NDC and went solo despite a week ultimatum given them to rescind their decision.
