NDC MP’s vehicle seized

A vehicle belonging to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament for Sekyere Affram Plains Alex Adomako Mensah has been impounded by the Government Vehicle Taskforce.

The taskforce, which is on the lookout for alleged looted State vehicles after the change of government, stopped the lawmaker’s vehicle at Achimota Saturday, February 18, 2017, when his driver was using it for errands.

Confirming the incident to Starr News’ Regina Borley Bortey Sunday evening, Mr. Mensah said the vehicle has been impounded at the Tesano Police Station.

He said the taskforce demanded for the papers of the vehicle before it will be released. According to him, the Minority caucus has been on a retreat at Aqua Safari in Ada over the weekend and he had sent his driver on an errand when the taskforce accosted him and two others in the vehicle.

“They asked him to show the papers and he said he had been sent by his boss.
The other two were dropped and the driver started struggling with the taskforce until a police patrol team came in to save the driver,” the legislator narrated.

“The car was taken to the Tesano police station and the car was seized and parked there… I went there and there was no one to be found.”

Mr. Mensah said he will inform leadership today and will make available all documents covering the vehicle.

He said he has been using the vehicle since 2014. “I bought it from Toyota Ghana,” he confirmed.

“I will inform my leaders and will make a statement about it on the floor on Tuesday.”

The police is yet to make any public pronouncement on the incident.
