NDC Cannot Win 2004 Elections – Assiseh

The former Press Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Vincent Assiseh says he does not think that the NDC can win the 2004 Presidential and Parliamentary elections. He has therefore asked the party to save resources for the 2008 elections and forget about the 2004 elections, since in his opinion, the party needs further re-engineering to become a real political party.

Mr Assiseh explained that since the New Patriotic Party has been in power for only one term, they would not just want to throw their power away easily.

Citing reasons why he thinks 2004 will be a wild goose chase for the NDC, Mr Assiseh said the NDC does not have money to organise well throughout the country like the NPP used to do when they were in opposition.

He said unless plenty money came from somewhere, the liquidity situation would seriously affect the chances of the NDC in the coming elections. This, According to Mr Assiseh, is because, the NDC can no longer afford the T-shirts, political rally posters and billboards to convince the electorate to vote for them.
