NDC Apologises To Journalists

The National Youth Organizer of the NDC, Haruna Iddrisu has rendered an unqualified apology on behalf of his party to journalists in the country, over a litany of atrocities visited on them during the NDC regime.

He made the apology at the inauguration of the Central Region Working Committee of the youth wing of the party.

Under the NDC regime, a number of journalists were arrested and jailed while some had their newspaper offices smeared with human excrement.

Mr Iddrisu told the youth leaders that the party regrets some of the human rights abuses during its tenure of office, and gave the assurance that those abuses would not be repeated by the party should it be voted back to power in the next general elections. According to him, the NDC is now more democratic and gradually reforming.

Consequently, Mr Iddrisu advised the media to desist from focusing their reports on former President Rawlings to the detriment of the party’s flagbearer, Prof John Evans Atta Mills.

Mr Iddrisu also called on all and sundry to recognize that the NDC was the only party in sub-Saharan Africa that successfully transferred power to another party peacefully.
