NCCE tells the youth to eschew violence

Alhaji Abdul Razak Saani, the Northern Regional Director of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), has urged the youth to desist from acts of violence during this year’s general elections.

Everybody should show responsibility and uphold the peace.

Speaking at a forum held for students and first-time voters at the Savelugu Senior High School (SHS), he said those who acted outside the law must be prepared to bear the cost of their actions.

The programme was jointly organized by the NCCE and Youth Brigade Foundation, an NGO, with support from the Canada Fund for Local Initiatives.

It is part of a project launched by the Foundation to provide first-time voters with all the relevant information they would need.

Alhaji Saani advised them to carefully examine the manifestoes of the various political parties before deciding where their votes should go.

He again encouraged qualified voters to take advantage of the forthcoming limited registration exercise by the Electoral Commission (EC) to get their names on the voters’ roll.

Mr. Douglas Quartey, Programmes Manager of the Foundation, warned minors, to stay away from the limited registration to avoid trouble.
