NCCE restores peace to Bunkpurugu

Tamale, March 21, GNA - The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), in collaboration with the Northern Peace Advisory Committee have started the process to reconcile the two feuding factions at Temaa in the Bunkpurugu/Yunyoo District of the Northern Region. The Chairman of the NCCE, Mr. Farhan Laary Bimi made this known to the Ghana News Agency in Tamale on Saturday, after meeting the two factions in the Metropolis to smoke the piece pipe. He entreated the two factions to be good ambassadors of peace to attract the displace people in the conflict to return home to take advantage of the farming season.

Rev. Father Thaddeus Kuusah, Chairman of the Peace Advisory Committee urged the people to embrace unity in diversity, adding that their cultural background and social lives should be a means of building common understanding and trust among them. Mr. Alhassan Sulaman Hussein, Regional Director of the NCCE said the commission would continue with its peace process in other volatile areas of the region.

He said NCCE was able to broker peace in Gushegu through similar interventions. 21 March 10
